Being the real me without apology

Being the real me without apology | MaameYaa Boafo | TEDxAccra

In “Being the real me without apology | MaameYaa Boafo | TEDxAccra” MaameYaa Boafo talks about how growing up she wasn’t able to express herself the way she wanted. That she was afraid to show her parents her true passions because she felt as if they wouldn’t accept her decisions. When she was finally able to go after her dream of being an actor she faced more challenges of not feeling like she fit in. She questioned if she should even pursue her dreams all because she doubted herself. No matter what you’ve been through it should not stop you from getting where you want to go. Just because other people have achieved more than you that doesn’t give you a reason to doubt yourself; there will always be someone who’s better and more advanced than you. Don’t let what people’s perspective of you define you. Learn to love yourself and invest in yourself. As long as you’re doing what you love the hardships you deal with won’t matter, make the best out of the circumstances you’re in. Take advantage of the tools you’re given, be confident with who you are because that’s the person people are going to love. Be the person you are completely and unapologetically.

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” – Maya Angelou
